Welcome to the 2nd issue of
2008.Each quarter we try to bring you insight from
industry, timely and important technology developments.
Life in this part of the world simply isn't getting any
easier, is it? If you feel like things are getting
tougher and you have less time to get everything done,
you're not alone.
We found that the fashion, apparel, furniture and home
textile industry faces intense pressure from constant
change orders, and complex global Supply chains while
under demanding deadlines. Not only that we identify the
problems in the manufacturing industry, Al Borj
endeavors best to answers too.
Where do we begin to find
those answers? By identifying those that are successful
and seeing what they are doing. It's a fact: when it
comes to your supply chain, you're either in front of
customers with the latest products, or you're behind the
curve. That's why the industry's most successful leaders
and savvy companies are taking a cue from other
manufacturing industries and incorporating AMS
(Automated Manufacturing Solutions) to help accelerate
the product development and delivery processes, while
improving quality and controlling costs. Some of those
latest automated solutions can be viewed inside the
newsletter.
The good news is that UAE
now expects to see a new phase in exports. UAE
Government, as their Strategy will now focus on
converting the country into a manufacturing hub from a
re-export centre. The focus would now be on small and
medium .
Enterprises (SMEs) and make products branded with Made
in UAE to boost the manufacturing sector.
Diversification of the economy away from dependence on
oil has led to rapid industrial development. First class
facilities, low labor and energy costs as compared to
all east European countries, favorable Tax laws and
political stability have also contributed to the growth
of manufacturing. After Dubai's success in becoming a
hub for logistics and re-export, it is time now for the
industrial revolution. Today the city has emerged as the
Leading industrial destination. Devoting area of 560
million square feet to Dubai Industrial City and Dubai
Logistics city has an area of more than 234 square kilo
meters are the testament to this fact.
Thanks to the liberal and business friendly policies of
its government, UAE has always enjoyed a special status
in the Gulf Region.
I would like to thank all our customers for their
continuous support and hope the research and content in
this newsletter is of benefit to you. We look forward to
your feedback.
Iskander Sultan Khwaja
